FAQ

These are questions that come up from time to time on the Knot, so I'm writing up my answers here to save me effort down the line.  You call it laziness, I call it efficiency and conservation of energy.

Q:  What did you get your attendants?
A:  After months of dithering and shopping, I decided that I would get each one of my attendants a nice book, since we all share a love of literature.  I was going to get them each a different book according to their tastes, but since we also all share a love of Disney, and fully half of them have procreated, so I settled on Grimm's Fairy Tales, the Easton Press edition.

Ain't she a beaut?  They retail for around $90, but thanks to the magic of eBay, I picked them up for around $30 each.  MOH got an edition which I deemed slightly fancier.  (I picked up an extra copy of that one for myself.)

Each of the girls (bridesmaids, groomswoman, and mothers) got a necklace similar to these.  The exact Etsy seller doesn't appear to be around anymore, sadly.  The tile was the girl's initial, and the back had a definition of a word appropriate to her.  This wasn't to wear in the wedding at all, it was just a little something extra.

Jer got each of his attendants a different gift: a leather fedora, a putting set, a vibrator, a poker kit, and a spice rack.

Q:  What did you get their parents?

A:  Gift cards!  Dad got Southwest Airlines, Mom and stepdad got a hotel in Colorado Springs, and FIL and SMIL got BJ's Restaurant and Brewery.  They were all in the same denomination, even though the contributions weren't at all equal.  They're also all getting nice wedding albums for Christmas.

Q:  How did you handle setup in the suite?

A:  Basically, we moved all the furniture out to the edges of the room, which created a TON of space.  As you can see in the pictures here, we processed from the bedroom to the big column in the living room, which is where we performed the ceremony.  Bar went on the bar, food went on the main table, desserts went on the console in the front room.
