Getting There

Doing a DIY heavy Vegas wedding when you live in Orange County is... tricky.  Thankfully we were driving, so we stuffed our car as full as we could possibly manage and departed on Wednesday afternoon.

Yowza!

We saved and saved and worked diligently to ensure that we could spare no expense on this trip, so our first stop was Stone Brewery in Escondido, CA.  Now, if you're familiar with California geography, you may have observed that Escondido is more on the way to San Diego than Vegas.  However, our reasons for going were twofold.  1) We could pick up some of Jer's favorite beer to serve at the various wedding festivities.  2)  They have a lovely restaurant there that is rather spendy, a bit too much to justify under normal circumstances.  But for our wedding?  Hell yeah!

Beer acquired and deliciousness consumed, we continued on to Primm.  You know those sketchy little casinos right at the California/Nevada border?  They're also only about $20/night.

Yeah, there's a reason for that.  But it definitely beat sleeping in our car, and was much kinder to both our schedule and our wallets to do it this way.  Our plan was all about being able to relax and take our time, and Whiskey Jack's served our purposes beautifully.

Bright and early, we drove the rest of the way into Vegas.  We were hoping to check in early, and with repeated attempts at the counter, we were finally able to get in around 3:00pm.  (Warning to in-suite brides: go for two nights.  Well worth the cost.)

Let the hanging out commence!  (Interspersed with hurried completion of DIY projects, naturally.)  We invited everyone who was in town already over for pizza and the aforementioned beer.  We'd planned on putting on a movie, but we were all having so much fun just chatting and hanging out, it never happened.  Cheap, relaxing, perfect.
